Your New Motorcycle Career Starts Here...At the Motorcycle Mechanics Institute, you’ll create your own custom training program that meets your career goals by combining core motorcycle training courses with specialized manufacturer electives of your choice. Motorcycle Mechanics Institute offers hands-on training with up-to-date systems and vehicles. You’ll use the same kind of high-tech equipment and work on the same kind of late-model motorcycles you’d expect to encounter working as a technician in a dealership. From engines to suspensions, chassis, electrical systems and transmissions, you’ll learn it all in the Motorcycle Technician Specialist program. You’ll even have the opportunity to customize your career with manufacturer-specific training for the industry’s biggest names. Motorcycle Mechanics Institute is also is a great place to start earning professional certification that can further increase your value to potential employers. In the Honda and BMW electives, you can actually earn manufacturer certification while still attending school. No matter which core program and electives you choose, you’ll graduate with the skills and experience you need to get a great job as a motorcycle technician.
BMW MotorRad is a 12-week elective program that can be added to our Motorcycle Technology core program. In this program, which is officially endorsed by BMW, you’ll learn all about servicing and repairing BMW motorcycles. You’ll learn to use BMW GT1 diagnostic test equipment. And you’ll work on the latest BMW models. Plus, the BMW MotorRad elective provides an opportunity to become a Tier 1 Certified BMW Motorcycle Technician—credentials that will give you a definite professional advantage.
At MMI, you'll get to know the Buell motorcycle line from top to bottom. Learn everything about this streetwise motorcycle design from its Dynamic Digital fuel injection to what Erik Buell refers to as "Buell's Trilogy of Tech":
* Mass Centralization for better control
* Frame Rigidity for superior handling
* Less "unsprung weight" for better contact with the road
After you’ve tackled the basics of theory by completing the first 30 weeks of the Motorcycle Technician prerequisite, you move onto MMI's individually equipped labs for a series of courses. Each focuses on a specific motorcycle system, emphasizing service, repair and maintenance procedures. Then, you can move on to the Harley-Davidson® Technology section covering parts systems, vehicle maintenance, customer skills and management techniques. Complete your MMI journey with either the Harley-Davidson Early Model or Harley-Davidson® Late Model elective (or both, if you prefer).
HonTech® is a 24-week elective program that can be added to our Motorcycle Technology core program. In this program, which is officially endorsed by Honda, you’ll learn both basic and advanced service and repair skills. You’ll learn with special tools, equipment, and training aids. And you’ll work on the latest Honda models, including CBR 1000RR, VTX 1800, and CRF 450R.
Plus, the HonTech® elective provides an opportunity to earn your Honda Pro Technician Routine Maintenance Certificate—credentials that are usually offered only to service technicians with experience in the field. This certificate gives you a definite advantage in the work world. And Motorcycle Mechanics Institute is the only school that offers it.
Kawasaki K-Tech Specialist is a 12-week elective program that can be added to our Motorcycle Technology core program. In this program, which is officially endorsed by Kawasaki, you’ll learn how to service and repair Kawasaki motorcycles. You’ll learn about the Kawasaki ATV line, the Mule, and personal watercraft. And you’ll work on the latest Kawasaki models, including Vulcan® 2000 Classic, Ninja® ZX™-6R, and Ninja® ZX™-6R.
Plus, when you complete the Kawasaki K-Tech Specialist elective, you’ll receive a Kawasaki entry-level technician certificate—something that will give you an added advantage in your job search.
Suzuki FAST is a 12-week elective program that can be added to our Motorcycle Technology core program. In this program, which is officially endorsed by Suzuki, you’ll learn all about servicing and repairing Suzuki bikes. You’ll learn the technical and professional skills you need to excel in a Suzuki service department. And you’ll work on the latest Suzuki models, including the SV 1000, GSXR 750, DRZ 400 and the M109R.
Plus, when you complete the Suzuki FAST elective, you’ll receive a Suzuki entry-level technician certificate—an added advantage in your job search. And top grads can take advantage of the Suzuki Select Tech program.
Yamaha YamaPro® is a 12-week elective program that can be added to our Motorcycle Technology core program. In this program, which is officially endorsed by Yamaha, you’ll learn how to service and repair Yamaha motorcycles. You’ll learn with Yamaha-specific equipment and tools. You’ll work on ATVs, water vehicles, and snowmobiles. And you’ll work on the latest Yamaha models, including YZF-R1, YZ450, and V Star 1300.
Plus, when you complete the YamaPro® elective, you’ll receive a Yamaha entry-level technician certificate—an added advantage in your job search.
